My parents established The Esseff Foundation with the intent of distributing their own personal wealth to fund & support various projects caring for those in need. As time has gone on their resources have been reduced limiting the activity of the foundation.
One of the best paths out of poverty is through education. Throughout its history, a strong focus of The Esseff Foundation has been in support of educational projects such as:
- The Transforming Communities Program, in partnership with IMEC.
- Don Bosco Technical School for Boys. in support of Salesian Missionaries in both Haiti & Lebanon.
- Sisters of the Most Holy Sacrament School in Beit Habbak Lebanon.
Recently the focus of our efforts has been concentrated in Lebanon. Due to both political and economic crises that have befallen the country, adding to it the effects of the pandemic a major portion of the population has rapidly fallen into food insecurity and poverty. Having a direct family connection to the country we have felt called to respond during this most critical need.
Through our regular shipments of medical supplies & medicines along with directly targeted family asstance we have been able to bring hope to some of those in the most underserved areas of the country.
Since taking over the operation of the foundation in 2019 my hope is to carry on the work of the foundation by enlisting outside sources of funding to help support the various projects that we are trying to support.
To take the legacy of "Service to God and Neighbor" that our family has given us and continue to grow it through the work of The Esseff Foundation. This can be a gift to our families, our communities, and the world.
We would like to thank, on behalf of all of the Sisters in our Congregation, and more importantly on behalf of the people whom we serve, ESSEF Foundation for its frequent support through Mrs. Dima Istambouli. Your donation that includes food, medicine and money is a great mercy to us and to the people we serve, especially during this challenging period. Our mission at this period is to help poor Christian families who live near our four convents in rural regions of Lebanon by offering them food, medicine, money, pastoral care and other services; and to help through our school in Beit Hebbak 1,470 students and orphans. We ask Jesus Christ to bestow his blessings and grace on you all, for your charity and generosity. May God bless and reward you.
The spirit and dedication of Georges Essef Senior imprints the foundation’s whole team. Working with them has been a pleasure but was also a big motivator. More importantly the support they provided to distressed populations has been invaluable. Wish they continue to spread love around the world.
